Aune S18 EVO: DAC AK4497The S18 EVO features two AK4497 DACs operating in mirror mode, enabling precise alignment of the left and right channels whilst reducing phase differences between them. This balance is further enhanced by a direct IIS transmission architecture to the conversion stages, thereby avoiding intermediate conversions that could introduce jitter or synchronisation errors.

Beyond the physical topology, the entire digital signal path is synchronised to a common time reference, ensuring that each sample is processed using a consistent clock reference. This approach results in a more stable reconstruction of the analogue signal, which is particularly noticeable in terms of spatialisation and the precision of subtle details.


Aune S18 EVO: Third-generation PLLThe system is based on a third-generation phase-locked loop, which dynamically synchronises the incoming and internal clocks to correct timing discrepancies between signals. This comprehensive synchronisation relies on a 10 MHz external clock, providing a stable reference across the entire conversion circuit.
By reducing jitter to levels in the order of femtoseconds, the system ensures a consistent time base for all digital processing. This stabilisation extends throughout the entire internal signal chain, thereby minimising signal interpretation errors during critical conversion stages.
