The Punch Audio Portazo is a bass monster, featuring a thunderous 15dB sub-bass output that reverberates even the deepest of notes. Designed specifically for bassheads, the Portazo delivers a punishingly powerful bass slam. But with a precisely tuned treble and ultra-treble extension, the overall sound signature is crisp and clean, providing ample headroom in the soundstage. 
 
The key to the Portazo’s quality bass is in thanks to its new composite diaphragm. With a suspension ring made from liquid silicone and a separate liquid crystal polymer (LCP) dome, this dual-material diaphragm allows the perfect mix in rumble and clarity. The difference in responsiveness across the two surface membranes allows each tonal characteristic to present itself across the frequency spectrum. 
 
The Portazo presents a life-like soundstage with pristine highs, due to its new dual planar magnetic tweeters. With extreme transients and speed, these planar tweeters effectively extend the ultra-high treble range to 35kHz, outperforming performances from traditional drivers.
 
Although the Portazo is a basshead IEM, its tuning was carefully and elaborately engineered. The sub-bass is extended by 15dB from 20Hz to 400Hz for powerful lows and full low-mids. This provides ample body to bass guitar and male vocals. However, the midrange from 400Hz to 1kHz is maintained at a steady neutrality, preventing the overall sound from feeling muddy or bloated, and providing a natural accuracy to instruments.
The treble peaks precisely at 3kHz for a clean bite and presence in vocals, while a carefully tuned treble decay maintains micro-details without shrillness. The ultra-treble range is fully extended, allowing plenty of air and headroom in the soundstage.
